Ruth and Vijay had a magical wedding day! Having met at Stanford, where he is currently a doctoral candidate and she is a postdoctoral teaching fellow, the melange of cultures created a most unique experience for all who attended. First of all, they are two of the most genuine people I have ever met. The planning process for their wedding revolved around what would make their guests happy and the day memorable. Let’s just say that there were a few challenges with the caterer’s flat tire and no ice delivery on a 92 degree day in the San Jose hills, but it was not enough to put a damper on this day. The afternoon started with the Hindu ceremony followed by an hour of snacks with iced tea and lemonade while we changed the mandhap into a chuppah for the Jewish ceremony to follow. Afterwards, guests enjoyed an Indian buffet complete with a south Indian dosa station. The market lights strung from the trees and over the dance floor illuminated the great energy and the evening concluded with guests singing “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” at the top of their lungs! I was sorry to see it end… Mozel Tov, Ruth and Vijay!
