I remember the day I signed a contract with Liz and Ed. His grew up on the east coast, and his parents were in town for a Giants’ game, which they were headed to after our meeting. That was in April 2014. In the months that followed, they selected a venue, and the wedding planning began. In November, I got a call that Ed had to go back east as his mother had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The wedding was planned for April of this year, and he felt that there would be plenty of time because she was a fighter. The holidays were tough, but the beginning of the year consumed everyone with the final wedding plans at the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco. The wedding was wonderful, and both Elizabeth and Ed looked so happy to be surrounded by family and friends. One of the most poignant moments was Ed’s dance with his mother, who was frail but still smiling and fighting. He didn’t know, but I had to leave the room having lost my own mother to cancer. It was an emotional moment for everyone. I got the word last week that Ed’s mother, Barbara, passed away last month. She lived to see their beautiful wedding and to remind us all that life is very, very precious… live and enjoy every moment.
