Maria and Justin at The Bridges

What do you do when your wedding nearly outgrows your venue? Luckily, the guest list just squeaked in under the wire.  Three hundred and thirty friends and family joined the now Mr. and Mrs. Moon (who knew each other in high school but Maria went to the prom with Justin’s best man!!) at their wedding on a wonderfully temperate August afternoon overlooking the golf course at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon. An emotional Maria, escorted by her brother, walked up the aisle to A Thousand Years and took Justin’s hand for life.  A sunset reception followed complete with a Hawaiian dance exhibition in their honor!  Guests danced the night away…  Maria and Justin are now resting comfortably in their new home in Hawaii. Aloha!!

Go Cardinal!

They say that timing is everything…  when Thaddeus was using the weight room at Stanford with his fellow football players, it was his lucky day when Alexandra, who played women’s water polo, was using the weight room as well!  Was it love at first sight?  Well, maybe…  In any case, these two Stanford grads chose a beautiful August day to be married at the Palace of Fine Arts followed by dinner and dancing under the stars at the Presidio.   It was magical!

Congratulations Marlene and Jason!

Can a person find true love on a blind date???  The answer is YES!  Just ask Marlene and Jason…  I can’t wait for their wedding in May 2014 at the wonderful Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill in San Francisco.  Not only did this couple meet on a blind date, but they are brave enough to start renovations on their fabulous home before their wedding takes place!  They live life to its fullest, and I love working with them… Bravo!

Rustic Vintage Wedding Weekend!

Shannon and Mike did it right! What an amazing June wedding in such a unique venue, Leonard Lake Reserve, miles from San Francisco just outside of Ukiah. Close family and friends came from all over for a weekend celebration of their marriage. On Saturday, after a wonderful brunch and scavenger hunt, guests could choose to relax or participate in activities around the lake until the late afternoon ceremony. It was so refreshing to see so many parents playing with their young children and spending quality time together! The weather cooperated, and everyone embraced the “rustic vintage” theme. At one point, I thought that I had been transported to the set of Mad Men! Children were enjoying activities with two hired nannies for the evening, while the adults shared toasts on the patio, an awesome dinner buffet (thank you Oak & Smoke Catering!) complete with a dessert buffet of pies, cakes and cookies from Ukiah’s spectacular Schat’s Bakery and then danced the night away in the “Barn.” It was a very special day for a very special couple! I, for one, am sad that it’s over…

Monica and Ben Coming Up on Three Years!

Wait! Is this even possible? Monica and Ben were married on the 4th of July, 2010 at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. There were certainly fireworks between these two, and a wedding day to be remembered. I felt more than a little sad when the evening was over because we had worked so closely together… and now, our time together was over. But for Monica and Ben, their life together was just beginning! From growing up in the bay area to moving to Boston and now living in Washington, D. C., it is nice to be back in touch with Monica. This is my favorite part of being a wedding planner! Looking forward to more updates from you two…

An Intimate, Elegant Evening!

When Sahar and Roozbeh contacted me, it was to assist them with a very non-traditional wedding reception… more like a wonderful dinner with a smallish group of family and friends. Their guests truly came from all over the world to celebrate this wonderful occasion. Already married at City Hall months before, this was an evening where memories were to be created. It was a beautiful, clear San Francisco night in March, and I think that every one of the guests got to spend quality time with the newly married couple. The room was filled with smiles, great food, nice wine, a dance floor and wonderful music! Sahar and Roozbeh said the evening was over way too quickly! But their mission was accomplished ~ memories for a lifetime of good friends and family together in one place at one special time. Congratulations!

Magnifique!

Congratulations to Ashley and Pascal who were married at the Westin St. Francis on a perfect March evening!  Family and friends flew in from Europe, Canada and the United States to witness a ceremony officiated by Pascal’s uncle and godfather, Guy.  I could hear oohs and ahhs when the bride entered and guests watched her walk down the aisle.  The back of her dress was amazing!! The lights of the city and hundreds of candles warmed Alexandra’s Ballroom where guests enjoyed an exquisite dinner and dancing until midnight to Stefano’s (Big Fun DJ) great music!  Huckleberry Karen transformed the ballroom to bring a bit of the outdoors indoors with her floral design.  The couple is now relaxing on a beach in Bali or maybe doing some scuba diving…  Thanks to all for a marvelous wedding!

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and cheers to my very first blog posting! What a great feeling to be basking in the glow of Tiffany Goldy and Eric McKean’s wedding last month at the Westin St. Francis. It was a beautiful wedding in the hotel’s former chapel, the Borgia Room, followed by a reception in Victor’s Palace with a view of the holiday lights, the skating rink and Macy’s wreathes from the 32nd floor! The first dance was a tango complete with red roses in Tiffany’s hair, and a father-daughter dance to ZZ Top’s Cheap Sunglasses… you have to love it!

2013 begins with a lifetime dream for me… I am launching my own business, Make It Happen!, after thirty years of event planning and wedding coordination for numerous hotels and restaurants. How many times have I heard the question “Why don’t you start your own business?” There is no time like the present, and I am very, very excited.

On this big day, I acknowledge ALL of the brides and grooms whose weddings I have planned especially over the last four years in San Francisco. Their input has been invaluable, and their friendship held so dear. I love hearing how married life is treating them and all about their growing families! They are responsible for the passion that I have for creating weddings. Without them, this new venture would have never been possible.

Happy New Year! May 2013 bring good health, prosperity and LOVE to you all.

Congratulations Jasmine and Jeffrey!

Congratulations to Jasmine and Jeffrey! This was such a fun surprise to arrange when Jeffrey presented Jasmine with her engagement ring last November at the Westin St. Francis. What a beautiful evening… I am so pleased to be working with them for their upcoming September wedding also at the Westin St. Francis in the beautiful Alexandra’s Ballroom. Happy wedding planning!!
