Memorial Day Weekend in the Rain!

Who would have thought that it would be pouring down rain in Napa on Memorial Day weekend! This was not a little sprinkle or an all day drizzle… Matt, the groom, had just gotten on the horse for the Baraat procession when the skies opened up! Guests and the wedding party who processed beside him were drenched. I was hoping that it would clear up for Sarah, the bride. But, she too walked in the rain! We were able to secure a tent for the guests the day before, and by the time the Hindu ceremony ended, the rain had stopped. Cocktails were outside as planned between the two ceremonies, and by the time the Christian ceremony began, it was bright and sunny! Go figure!! Climate change at its best…

What a Baby Shower!!

It was five years ago that Marlene and Jason were married at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. It was a fantastic wedding! So, when they asked me to assist with the logistics of the baby shower for their first child, I jumped at the chance. The entire team was back together! Sylvia Burgess at Montbretia did the flowers and Vero Suh was there to photograph the event. It was a beautiful spring day (the first we had seen in a while!), and a good time was had by all! Baby boy Citron is due next month!! Congratulations to two wonderful people (and parents)!

Quelle Belle Journee!!

Being the Francophile that I am, Dominique and Marquis were made for me from the beginning! They chose an “Autumn in Paris” theme, and every little detail just fit perfectly! They are individually amazing people and are even more wonderful together! Truly, they are two of the sweetest people I have ever met, and it was a pleasure to assist them! The outdoor ceremony had perfect warm October weather. Guests signed notes attached to little heart-shaped locks that they then attached to a metal grate, which looked like a replica of the Pont Neuf in Paris. Very clever! They thought of every last detail. From the thoughtful ceremony to the sparkler exit into a white Porsche, the wedding was beautiful. Congratulations Dominique and Marquis!! Meilleurs voeux!!

Just Magical…

Last Friday, when the world had seemingly crossed the line of craziness, I had a beautiful, magical couple get married in Mill Valley. The day was so peaceful ~ a tranquil outdoor setting for the ceremony, perfect courtyard for cocktails and dinner inside with windows all around. The most important aspect was that Erica and Jacob created so much of this wedding themselves. She designed and made her own amazing wedding dress. They designed a carved wooden wedding arch that Jacob built and transported from Los Angeles for the wedding ceremony. I had not met them until that day, and the love they shared was evident from the moment we met. Family and friends had a lovely day and evening that ended in a ribbon wand tunnel through which the newlyweds exited the Outdoor Art Club. It was especially beautiful from start to finish! Thank you Erica and Jacob for trusting me with this incredible wedding!

Count Your Blessings…

As this weekend approaches, I find myself thinking about Lindsay and Steven, a young couple whose wedding was to be on Saturday… a new beginning, a beautiful wedding and their first day as husband and wife. Unfortunately, the wedding had to be postponed a month ago due to a malignant tumor that the bride had removed last week. We are unsure as to the follow up treatment required, but we KNOW that the wedding will be rescheduled just as soon as possible. This is a reminder to all of us to never take a day for granted!! And to the couples who are reading this, do not worry about the small things at your wedding like whether the cake isn’t exactly as you’d imagined or that the flowers aren’t the perfect shade of pink. Just be happy that you are marrying the partner of your dreams! Thinking of you Lindsay and Steven…

It’s All Greek to Me!!

What a wonderful feeling to participate in a wedding day with such large overtones of romance, caring, laughter and great love! The planning was meticulous on the part of Pamela, the bride. She had the support of her daughters, her mother and her father. I worried that the execution of the details would not be exactly what she expected, but come the day of the wedding, she was relaxed and loved everything from the fantastic flowers by Arlene Boyle at Violetta to the last drop of champagne! In fact, I still see her with Steve sitting by the fire pit outside relaxing as all the vendors were packing up. She wanted to do it all over again! Pam and Steve, I’m up for doing it again, too. Let’s think about an anniversary party the next time!! Congratulations!

Casey, Michael and the Swig Rig!!

No one will ever forget this heat wave in southern California! The day of our rehearsal reached 113! However, it cooled for the wedding day, and everything could not have been better. I have known the bride since she was born, so this was a very special day for me! Casey had a vision from the beginning of how her wedding would go. It was an amazing ceremony written and performed by her Uncle Tegan. Guests were greeted with champagne from the Swig Rig, the couple’s new business. My assistants were Casey’s event interns from her high school where she teaches and coaches girls’ lacrosse. The live band, Liquid Blue, was fantastic and played to a full dance floor until the last minute! Finally, off they went through a line of guests and their sparklers as the new Mr. and Mrs. Belitz. Aloha for a great honeymoon in Maui!!

This Is NOT Grey’s Anatomy!!

Meredith and Derek were married on a breezy day on Treasure Island. We feared for the worst in terms of wind, but it was the perfect day! They spent time with family and friends before heading to Fiji, where they were able to relax and unwind! Life is returning to normal back home slowly but surely. Congratulations you two!!

Baby Safahi-Rivas!

Is Peyton just the cutest??? Grandpa Fred is going to spoil her something awful… as he should! Congratulations Jessica and Josh! Seems like your wedding was only yesterday.

The Luck of the Irish!

For Eileen and Stephen, it was a Plan “B” kind of afternoon! We were all prepared for whatever would have happened at the outdoor ceremony in the Redwood Grove at the UC Botanical Gardens… Would it rain out the musicians or would the wind get too strong to hold the ceremony outside? We were able to get the procession in and the ceremony finished as the clouds were moving in. About an hour later, we had full rain but by that time all of the guests were inside the Brazilian Room!! It was a beautiful day with many special moments including a lovely piano performance by the bride’s son, Keith. The room was silent as he played against the backdrop of rain drops. Congratulations to you both! I wish that I could take credit for holding the rain off until the reception!
